24 national teams are currently playing the World Cup U17 at India (October 06-October 28). During the last round of 16, several teams have impressed including Germany and USA.

Colombia-Germany : 0-4

Germany have produced a top-class performance against Colombia and the captain Jann-Fiete Arp was without doubt the man of the match. The Hamburger SV wonderkid has netted a brace : firstly, a left-footed lob and then a lovely chip. He has also distinguished himself with an assist for John Zamora. It should be noted that Yann Bisseck has also found the net earlier in the game.

Paraguay-United States : 0-5

Unbeaten during the group stage, Paraguay were totally outclassed by United States. Timothy Weah ended his goal drought by scoring three times including a stunner in the second half. Meanwhile, Josh Sargent and Andrew Carleton confirmed their good form as they scored both.

France-Spain : 1-2

Impressive since the start of the competition, France have eventually faced a last-16 exit. Lenny Pintor netted the opener for Les Bleuets but Spain responded quickly thanks to a Juan Miranda’s header just before the half time. Then, the FC Barcelona youngster Abel Ruiz fired La Rojita into the quarter-finals as he converted a controversial late penalty.

Iran-Mexico : 2-1

The Iran’s fairytale continues as they make it four wins in a row. The Asians made the difference early in the game as they had a two-goal-advantage after only 11 minutes thanks to a penalty converted by Mohamad Sharifi as well as an exquisite lob from Allahyar Sayyad. After that, Roberto De La Rosa reduced the deficit for the CONCACAF champions but it wasn’t enough to stop Iran claiming victory.

England-Japan : 0-0 (5-3 pen)

The Young Three Lions fought hard to secure a quarter-final spot. Neither team could make the breakthrough in the full 90 minutes. The Liverpool starlet Rhian Brewster missed the game's best chance when his strike hit the post in the first half.

It took a dramatic penalty shootout to decide the winner and England finally claimed the victory.

Mali-Iraq : 5-1

The Malians confirmed their good form as they hammered Iraq. Lassana N’Diaye netted a brace and took his tally to 5 goals in this World Cup. The Africans secured the win thanks to other goals from Hadji Dramé, Fodé Konaté as well as Seme Camara while Ali Kereem reduced the deficit for the Asians in the last minutes.

Ghana-Niger : 2-0

The Black Starlets earned a deserved win over Niger. Ghana took the lead thanks to a penalty scored by Eric Ayiah. Then, the Ghanaian captain has missed a penalty in the second half but hopefully for Ghana, Richard Danso came off the bench to double the lead.

Brazil-Honduras : 3-0

Another game, another win for the Brazilians who are qualified for the quarter-finals. The Seleçao already had a three-goal-lead on the hour mark thanks to a brace from Sao Paulo starlet Brenner and a goal from Marco Antonio.
