The AFC U19 Championship is currently taking place at Bahrain (October 13-October 30). Saudi Arabia will meet Japan in the final. We take a closer look at the performances of both nations during the semi-finals !

Saudi Arabia-Iran : 6-5

Saudi Arabia earned a final spot after an astonishing 6-5 win over Iran in the semi-final ! Impressive since the start to the competition, the Saudi Arabia midfielder and captain Sami Al Naji netted a brace to take his tally to 4 goals in 5 games. Meanwhile, Abdulrahman Al Yami distinguished himself too as he scored three goals while Ayman Al Kuhlaif added another goal during this spectacular game. Iran tried to reverse the trend thanks to goals from Reza Jafari, Aaref Aghasi, Reza Shekari, Mehdi Mehdikhani et Reza Karmollachaeb but it wasn’t enough to claim the win.
Saudi Arabia reach the AFC U19 Championship final for the first time since 1992.

Vietnam-Japan : 0-3

The Takeru Kishimoto’s first goal in the competition and a brace from Shunta Nakamura helped Japan to secure a final berth. Despite a much-changed team, Japan were impressive again. Since the start of the tournament, Japan netted 13 goals… and have not conceded a goal ! Until now, Japan finished runners-up of the AFC U19 Championship six times in their history and they have never clinch the title. Can the young Samuraï Blue make history on this Sunday ?
