Netherlands will face France on this Monday at Amsterdam in their World Cup 2018 qualifiers. We’ll have a closer look at this game as several players from both sides took part in the Toulon Tournament.
In the Netherlands squad, we can talk about Maarten Stekelenburg, the Everton goalkeeper who played the Festival in 2001, as well as Bas Dost, the Sporting Lisbon striker who was at Toulon in 2009. Then, we have discovered two future members of the Dutch national team in 2012 : the defender Joel Veltman and the midfielder Davy Pröpper. Also, we have saw the Vincent Janssen’s emergence in 2015 when the Tottenham current striker was still playing in the Dutch second division…
We can count also several former Toulon Tournament players in the France squad. Some of them distinguished themselves at Toulon like Steve Mandanda and Hugo Lloris, who won the best goalkeeper award in 2005 and 2006 respectively. In 2007, Kevin Gameiro was brilliant too as he was named best player and finished top scorer of the competition.
The other France internationals who took part in the Festival are : Yohan Cabaye (2007), Moussa Sissoko (2009), Layvin Kurzawa (2013), Djibril Sidibé (2013) and Presnel Kimpembe who was named second best player of the Toulon Tournament in 2015.
