Kaká, who took part in the Toulon Tournament 1999, marked his comeback with a stunning performance. The Brazil international (91 caps), who missed the beginning of the season with a thigh injury, looked on top form for Orlando City in their 4-1 win over reigning Major League Soccer champions Portland Timbers. For his first appearance of the season, the Ballon d’Or 2007 winner scored a goal and delivered two assists !
Kaká told the Orlando Sentinel. “We beat the last champions, and it’s given us a lot of confidence for the next game. Today begins a new phase for our team this season.”
Thanks to this victory, Orlando City have moved to the top of the MLS Eastern Conference.
