The South American Championship U20, called the Sudamericano U20, is currently taking place at Ecuador (18 January-11 February). During the Matchday 3 of the final round, Brazil earned a crucial win while Uruguay won their third successive game.

Final group : Uruguay 9 pts, Ecuador 4 pts (+1), Venezuela 4 pts (+1), Brazil 4 pts (+0), Argentina 3 pts, Colombia 1 pt.

After a slow start (one draw, one loss), Brazi have earned their first win in this final round as they beat Venezuela (1-0). Both teams had big chances to take the lead. In the first half, the Brazilian attacking midfielder Richarlison crashed a header off the crossbar. In the second half, the shot from the new Manchester City player Yangel Herrera hit the post. After 89 minutes, the Seleçao eventually broke the deadlock as Felipe Vizeu lashed a wonderful effort into the top corner ! It’s the third goal netted by the Flamengo forward in this competition.

Few hours later, Uruguay clinched their third win in a row as they hammered Colombia (3-0) thanks to goals from Facundo Waller, Nicolas Schiappacasse as well as a penalty scored by Nicolas De la Cruz. Uruguay only need a win to clinch the Sudamericano title and secure their spot for the next World Cup U20.

In the third game of the day, Ecuador earned a 3-0 win over Argentina. The hosts took the lead thanks to a penalty converted by Pervis Estupinan after 40 minutes. Then, Jordy Caicedo and Bryan Cabezas got their names too in the scoresheet.
