img

Here we are ! Twelve nations from North America, Central America and the Caribbean region will take part in the CONCACAF U20 which begins on this Saturday. The competition will be held from 18 February to 5 March at Costa Rica. The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the upcoming World Cup U20 !

Title holders Mexico are one of the favorites to win the competition. To reach this aim, “El Tri” can count on the promising defender Edson Alvarez : the Club America player is only 19 and has already earned an international cap with the Mexico senior squad !

Costa Rica, the hosts of the competition, are also among the favorites. Winners in 2009, the Costa Ricans want to lift the trophy front of their fans. Randall Leal, the Malines (Belgium) midfielder, will be one of their key players.

Meanwhile, United States have never won the CONCACAF U20 and are aiming to end their title drought. The Americans have plenty of hot prospects in their squad like Erik Palmer-Brown (Sporting Kansas City) and Justen Glad (Real Salt Lake), two defenders who distinguished themselves in the Major League Soccer. And not forgetting nations like Panama, Honduras and Canada which are title contenders too.
