After a successful spell at Southampton (23 goals netted in Premier League in two seasons), Graziano Pellè has decided to try out the Chinese adventure on July 2016 as he signed for Shandong Luneng. The Chinese Super League club have spent around €15M to sign the Italy international who impressed at the Euro 2016, scoring notably against Spain and Belgium.
His first year in China was promising (5 goals in 13 games) but the 32-year-old striker has struggled during the beginning of his second season as he hasn’t find the net during several games. However, the Toulon Tournament 2008 winner got back to his best over the last weeks.
The Italian striker has netted 5 goals in his last 7 league games including a stunner against Beijing Guoan (2-2).
Led by Pellè, Shandong Luneng can dream about a qualification for the next Asian Champions League : the Ji'nan based-club are currently fifth with only two points off third spot.
