The new Qatari generation is emerging

The World Cup 2022 hosts Qatar have promoted a number of young players into their senior national team during this year 2017. Several young talents, who played for most of them the Toulon Tournaments 2014 and 2015, have made their international debuts over the last months.

We can talk about the goalkeeper Mohamed Al Bakri (Al Duhail), the defenders Salem Al Hajri, Musaab Khidir (Al Sadd) and Assim Madebo (KAS Eupen) as well as the midfielders Abdullah Alahrak (Al Duhail), Ahmed Doozandeh (Cultura Leonesa) and Ahmed Fathy (Al Arabi).

All these players are aged between 20 and 24. It should be noted also that the most promising Qatari player is Akram Afif, a gifted attacking midfielder who is only 21.

To guide this new generation, the Qatar Football Association has decided this summer to name Felix Sanchez Bas as the senior national team’s head coach. The Spaniard has notably coached some of the current Qatar internationals during the Toulon Tournament 2014.

The Asian national team looks determined to continue gambling on youth players with the World Cup 2022 less than five years away.
