U19 Euro : France, Portugal, England and Turkey qualify

The Elite Round qualifying for the U19 Euro came to an end on Tuesday. The seven national squads qualified, plus Finland as they host the competition, are known : France, England, Portugal, Turkey, Ukraine, Italy and Norway will face for the title from 16th to 29th July 2018.

After three wins in three games, France have done a perfect campaign concluded by a huge win against Spain (4-2), thanks to Maolida and Gouiri goals.

They are joined by three other teams engaged in the Maurice Revello Tournament. England, who have clinched the title last year, were near to the exit after they lost their last game against Macedonia (0-2). Tied with Latvia, Young Three Lions are qualified only thanks to the goal average.

Portugal and Turkey have less suffered. As France, Lusitanans have won their three Elite Round games. After they heavily beat Kosovo (5-0), Portuguese get two confident wins against Slovakia (1-0) and Ireland (4-0). Benfica players Gedson Fernandes (three goals) and João Filipe (two goals) have shined during the campaign.



Turkish have started well theirs with a victory against Austria (2-0). After a draw against Denmark (1-1), they get their tickets for Finland thanks to a win over Bosnia (2-1). The young Muhayer Oktay has been the key player of his team as he has scored four goals. It promises an enthralling duel during Maurice Revello Tournament, where Portugal and Turkey will meet into the group C and face the 3rd June at Stade Parsemain of Fos-sur-Mer for the last game of the group.
