Maurice Revello Tournament Team of the Month for August

img

The team of the month, here we go again! At the end of each month, we put together a list of players who have passed through the Maurice Revello Tournament and who have shone for their clubs or their national teams. First part of the 2021-2022 season, with the team of August.

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)

After a frustrating Euro, the French and Spurs goalkeeper was expected to make an impact. He did so. Lloris has made three clean sheets in Tottenham's three wins since the start of the season and is also the keeper who has made the most saves in the Premier League in August. All this while becoming the most capped player in the club's history with 300 appearances for Spurs. Hats off to him!

Djibril Sidibé (Monaco)

Whether as a right-back, his preferred position, or as a centre-back in a three-man defence, the French international has made an impressive start to the season. If Monaco was not sovereign during the first weeks of the competition, the man who took part in the 2012 and 2013 tournaments has put in a series of quality performances and earned his place in the starting line-up.

Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham)

Like Lloris, the Colombian defender has been one of the architects of Spurs' successful start to the season, which has seen them remain clean sheets in the Premier League. The player who came through the tournament in 2014 has returned to the starting line-up thanks to his convincing performances.

Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea)

One of the surprises of this early season. After a successful loan spell at Lorient last year, the youngest of the Chalobah siblings returned to Chelsea. The defender was intended to be part of the turn over, but was finally given a start in the European Supercup win over Villarreal, and then in the first game against Crystal Palace. A match in which he had the luxury of scoring a goal.

João Cancelo (Manchester City)

A regular in our best XIs. The Portuguese full-back has made a stunning start to the season, marked by two big wins for City against Norwich and Arsenal (5-0 on both occasions). He is expected to be one of Pep Guardiola's key assets again this season. His first team of the month this season, but probably not his last...

Tomas Alarcon (Cadiz)

Freshly arrived in Europe this summer, the Chilean midfielder did not need a long time to adapt. The former O'Higgins man was handed a starting berth in La Liga on the first day of the season and has played three top-class games in the Cadiz midfield. Alarcon has already made himself indispensable to the Spanish club.

Conor Gallagher (Crystal Palace)

On loan from Chelsea this summer, the midfielder didn't take long to establish himself at Crystal Palace. He started on the first matchday and only had to wait two games to score his first goals, a brace at West Ham (2-2). A game at the end of which the player who passed through the Tournament in 2019 was elected man of the match.

Jack Grealish (Manchester City)

Expectations are high as City spent €117 million to acquire the midfielder, a record amount in the history of the Premier League. For the moment, they have been fulfilled. A goal against Norwich and an assist against Arsenal, the England international has already been involved in two goals in four games played for the Citizens.

Ivan Morales (Colo Colo)

The Chilean striker is in good shape. He scored four goals in August and has been a major contributor to Colo Colo's run of five straight wins in the last month, taking them to the top of the Chilean league.

Gaetan Laborde (Montpellier)

Before leaving Montpellier for Rennes, who made a 15 million euros investment to buy the striker, Laborde concluded his adventure in the Hérault in the best possible way. He scored three goals in August, leaving MHSC without the excellent attacking duo he formed with Andy Delort, who left for OGC Nice.

Tammy Abraham (AS Roma)

The former Chelsea striker was recruited by the club for a hefty fee this summer (€40 million) and quickly lived up to expectations. The Englishman scored twice in his first game against Fiorentina (3-1) and waited until his third appearance for Roma to score his first goal, against promoted Salernitana (4-0).
