Maurice Revello Tournament Team of the Month for December

At the end of each month, we put together a list of players who have passed through the Maurice Revello Tournament and who have shone for their clubs or their national teams. Fifth part of the 2021-2022 season, with the team of December.

José Sa (Wolverhampton)

3 clean-sheets, only 2 goals conceded in total against Manchester City and Liverpool... The figures do not lie, the Portuguese goalkeeper had a great month of December. The Portuguese goalkeeper, who played in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2013 and 2014, made a number of decisive saves, but his month was unfortunately cut short by the Covid-19 epidemic, which led to the postponement of the games against Watford and Arsenal.


Anthony Ralston (Celtic)

By winning the Scottish League Cup just before the holidays against Hibernian, the full-back and his team gave themselves a nice Christmas present in advance. As well as the trophy, the player who came through the Tournament in 2017 and 2018 put in some excellent performances, capped by a goal and an assist.

Davinson Sanchez (Tottenham)

If Tottenham are back in the limelight in recent weeks, it is thanks to Antonio Conte, who arrived on the bench at the beginning of November, but also to a number of players who have returned to top form. Among them is the Colombian defender, who has established himself as an immovable member of Spurs' backline. In addition to helping his team regain a solid base (only 4 goals conceded in December), he even scored a goal during the month against Norwich.

Mamadou Sakho (Montpellier)

After a slow start to the season, MHSC has picked up again with the arrival of the holidays. With 4 wins in as many games in December, the Héraultais have ideally finished the year. A recovery to which the French defender has greatly contributed. Author of very good performances, the former Parisian has imposed himself as the boss of the Montpellier defence.


Jesus Angulo (Atlas CF)

70 years they have been waiting for this. By beating Club Leon on penalties after an epic double-header (3-3 on aggregate), Atlas won the opening tournament of the Mexican championship, the second in their history. The Mexican left-back, who took part in the tournament in 2019, has since signed for Tigres.


Etienne Capoue (Villarreal)

After a disappoiting start to the season, Villarreal are back on track. In December, Unai Emery's men won 4 of their 5 games. The highlight of the month was the victory over Atalanta, which allowed the yellow submarine to qualify for the round of sixteen of the Champions League. The French midfielder scored a goal in this game. The former Toulouse player, indisputable in the heart of the game, has put in a series of good performances over the month.

Vitinha (FC Porto)

The young Portuguese midfielder will long remember the end of 2021. Having gradually become a starter for FC Porto, the player who passed through the Tournament in 2019 was one of the main architects of the Dragons' double victory over Benfica. First in the Portuguese Cup (3-0), where he scored... then a few days later in the league (3-1), where this time he gave an assist. With also a goal at the beginning of the month, Vitinha ended the year in the best possible way.

Antony (Ajax)

The Brazilian winger keeps impressing, and December was no exception. In the ruthless and impressive machine that is Ajax this season, the player who passed through the Tournament in 2019 has once again shone. He scored 4 goals and set up one assist last month, and his performances were again of the highest quality.

Maximiliano Moralez (New York City)

Like Jesus Angulo, the Argentinian midfielder also won a title to round off the year by being crowned US champion with New York City, after a penalty shoot-out win over Portland. The Tournament 2006 graduate scored in the semi-final against Philadelphia (2-1) and won the third title of his career.

Tammy Abraham (AS Roma)

The English striker has seen double... twice. The former Chelsea player scored 4 goals in the month, and he scored two in a row: a decisive double against CSKA Sofia (3-2) in the Conference League, and another at Atalanta in a convincing 4-1 win for his side. With 12 goals this season, he is more than ever his team's top scorer.

Jonathan David (Lille)

Ligue 1's top scorer struck again in December. With 2 goals more, the Canadian striker took his total for the season to 12 in the league alone. The player who passed through the Tournament in 2018 also scored in the 3-1 win at Wolfsburg, which propelled LOSC to the top of their Champions League group and thus into the next round. The number one asset of the Northerners.
