The Toulon Tournament is fast approaching. To wait patiently until the beginning of the 46th edition of the competition (from 26th May to 9th June), let’s take a look at the players who could shine during the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018. Today, we talk about Lewis Cook, the Bournemouth starlet.

He could have been in Russia for the World Cup with England. But he only made the standby list. And in a few days, he will compete on the Provence pitches during the 46th edition of the Toulon Tournament. Lewis Cook, bought €7M to Leeds in summer 2016 by Bournemouth, is a real gem. He is the captain of U20 national selection that won the World Cup in 2017 in South Korea, He has notably found the net against Guinea during the group phase.

Only aged 21, he is one of the pillars of the Bournemouth midfield. He got a similar profil to Fabian Delph, the Manchester City player called for the World Cup in Russia. He is a box-to-box, technical, capable to go rapidly from an offensive phase to a defensive.

After a first complicated season at Bournemouth during which he only plays six games, Cook has truly made his first-team breakthrough this year. 29 games played during this campaign including 25 in the starting team, and a first selection with the Three Lions in march against Italia. A call that made a happy man : his grand-father who had bet around 570€ that his grand-son will appear with the England jersey before turning 26. Bet won. He gained 18 000 € !

The English playmaker recently extended his contract until 2022 with the Cherries. « This new contract is a really proud moment for me », he said just few minutes after his signing. «  This is the icing on the cake for the year we've had and all the hard work that's gone on behind the scenes at the club. »

A season that is not completely over yet for York native. He will soon try to help his nation to win a third Toulon Tournament in a row. Main objective of the England squad. And with no doubt, several scouts will have their eyes fixed on him…
