Group C : the most tough group

Since the 26th May, teams of groups A and B entered the competition. Today, it is teams of group C’s turn to have their first games. This group, formed by Canada, Japan, Portugal and Turkey is full of promesses.

Canada

First participation for the Canadians. Football won’t stop progressing in the giant country of North America, where people are more used to shoot in a puck rather than in a ball. Attending the last two group rounds of CONCACAF U20 but not in the World Cup of the category since eleven years, the Canadians want to take advantage of their trip in South of France to continue their development. Positionned in the most balanced group, they count on the talent of their star player Liam Millar (Liverpool) to make a good impression.

Canada’s games : vs Portugal (28th May, 7:30pm), vs Turkey (31st May, 7:30pm), vs Japan (3rd June, 3pm).

Japan

The Japanese kids come in Provence with determination. The Maurice Revello Tournament will serve as a springboard for the 2020 Olympic Games organised in Tokyo. Very disciplined, which is a caracteristic of Japanese teams, the squad of thirteen participation to the Festival can also count on the solidity and experience of Daiki Hashioka. The nineteen years-old right back currently plays for one of the biggest Japanese club, Urawa Red Diamonds. In the professional group since the beginning of the year, he already played 778 minutes, which means nine games, everytime as a first-team player. His experience with the winner of Asian Champions League is essential.

Japan games : vs Turkey (28th May, 5pm), vs Portugal (31st May, 5pm), vs Canada (3rd June, 3pm).

Portugal

Triple title winners (1992, 2001 and 2003) and twenty-nine participations, the Seleçao appear as the favourite of the group C. The second most invited nation to compete in this edition will have to take their status on. Off finals for thirteen years, the Lusitanians hope to clinch the trophy the 9th June in Francis Turcan stadium in Martigues. To reach that goal, the successors of Cristiano Ronaldo can count on a host of Benfica Lisboa players (Joao Filipe, José Gomes, Mesaque Dju, David Tavares).

Portugal games : vs Canada (2th May, 7:30pm), vs Japan (31st May, 5pm), vs Turkey (3rd June, 5:30pm)

Turkey

Finalists of the 2012 edition, Bilazer Muzafer’s men will try to reiterate this achievement this year. Since this astonishing path, the Turks have not particpated to the Tournament anymore. The waiting time has been long. To go through, they could count on Merih Demiral’s talent, Sporting Portugal centre back. The extraordinary passion of Turkish supporters will also constitute a significant advantage for the team.

Turkey games : vs Japan (28th May, 5pm), vs Canada (31st May, 7:30pm), Portugal (3rd June, 5:30pm)
