Cameroun won the African Cup of Nations 2017 after beating Egypt (2-1) during the final on this Sunday. Despite this loss, the Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazy can console himself with an individual distinction.
The 26-year-old centre-back, who took part in the Toulon Tournament 2009, has been named in the best XI of the tournament by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The Pharaohs were impressive defensively during the whole competition (only two goals conceded) and the Al-Ahly defender has been a rock for Egypt.
During his career, Hegazy has notably played for Forentina (Italy) between 2012 and 2015.
