Rated as one of the England’s best young talents, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is having a mixed 2016-2017 campaign with Chelsea. On the one hand, the 21-year-old can live an exciting end of the season as Chelsea are the Premier League current leaders and could still win the FA Cup. On the other hand, the young English midfielder is struggling for first-team chances as he only played 10 games in all competitions with the Blues (including 5 as a starter).
Loftus-Cheek is yet to secure a regular place in the Chelsea midfield. Despite this lack of playing time with the Premier League side, the Toulon Tournament 2016 best player established himself as one of the England U21’s key players. Last week, the English starlet has netted a brace during the 4-0 win over Denmark in a friendly.
He was pleased with this performance. ‘I really enjoyed it. I haven’t played much for my club so it is important for me to work hard and try to get my sharpness when I come away with England.’ He told to BT Sport.
Loftus-Cheek is already focused on the Euro U21 he will play with the Young Three Lions in June. “It’s a big tournament and I want to be at my peak fitness for when it comes,” the Chelsea midfielder said to the FA website.
