The wait is over ! After making around a dozen appearances on the Japan’s bench without playing a single minute, Naomich Ueda has eventually made his debut with the Samuraï Blue.
The 23-year-old defender earned his first international cap during the East Asian Cup game between Japan and China (2-1). The Kashima Antlers player started the game as a right-back and has played the full game.
One year after taking part in the Toulon Tournament 2016, Ueda burst onto the international scene. He has followed in the footsteps of Kosuke Nakamura (Kashiwa Reysol), Ryota Oshima (Kawasaki Frontale), Genta Miura and Yosuke Ideguchi (Gamba Osaka) : all of them have forced their way into the Japan senior squad after playing our competition.
