What can we wish for Chris Mepham ? To have an exciting 2018 year after a landmark 2017 year ! In only few months, the 20-year-old Welsh defender has enjoyed an astonishing rise. Few weeks after playing the Toulon Tournament 2017 with Wales, Mepham has penned a five-year-contract with Brentford.
“Chris has shown a real progression during the last 12 months and is developing into a player that we believe can get to a high standard”, the Brentford FC coach Dean Smith said.
Mepham has been handed his first Championship start on September against Middlesbrough (2-2) following his new deal with the Bees. Then, he waited until December to really force his way into the starting XI. Between 22 and 30 December, Mepham has started three league games in a row and has notably distinguished himself during the 2-1 win over Aston Villa.
Considered as a substitute option at the beginning of the season, the Welshman has shown that he can push for a starting spot in the next weeks !
