Flashback to May 2016 : at that moment, Fousseni Diabaté took part in the Toulon Tournament with Mali and hasn’t made yet his professional debut with En Avant Guingamp.
Almost two years later, the 22-year-old forward has stepped up to the next level : after his spell at Guingamp, Diabaté has joined the Ligue 2 side Gazélec Ajaccio during the last summer. This transfer has been obviously a turning point in the Malian’s career. Thanks to his convincing performances with Gazélec Ajaccio (3 goals and 1 assist in 18 league games this season), Diabaté has attracted interest from several French and foreign clubs.
Leicester City have eventually signed Diabaté for a transfer fee believed to be between €3,5M and €5M.
Totally unknown when he participated to the Toulon Tournament, Diabaté has now signed a deal with Leicester City that will keep him at the club until 2022 !
