Just in case you may have forgotten : the former AC Milan player Keisuke Honda has joined the Mexican league side Pachuca CF during the last summer. The Japanese star needed a little period of adaptation but he is showing signs of returning to his best since the beginning of the Clausura 2018.
The Japan international (91 caps, 36 goals) has netted 2 goals and registered 3 assists in 4 Liga MX games this year.
Honda (who played the Toulon Tournament 2008) has been decisive in each game played by Los Tuzos in the Clausura. Despite his fine performances, the Japanese attacking midfielder is expecting more from himself. “I think that I can play better, I’m not satisfied. I'm feeling much better than I have been at my arrival but I can do more”, Honda said to Televisa Deportes.
These words mean so much and tell you everything : Honda is aiming to rediscover his best form before the World Cup 2018. “I want to go to the World Cup which will be the last of my career”, he explained. After taking part in the World Cups 2010 and 2014, the 31-year-old midfielder will probably play his last World Cup this summer.
The Pachuca player has been the Japan’s top scorer during the qualifiers (7 goals in 16 games) and he is probably looking to repeat his heroics during the group stage when Japan will face Colombia, Senegal and Poland.
