From 26th May to 9th June, Togo will compete in the Toulon Tournament for the first time ever. The opportunity for the young Togolese players to test themselves against national teams from all over the world.

The African nation will be coached by the Togo legend Jean-Paul Abalo, captain of Les Eperviers during the World Cup 2006, and the performances of the new generation will be monitored closely in high places. Especially by Claude Le Roy, the Togo senior national team head coach.

The latter thinks that the Togo U21 players will benefit from the experience earned during the upcoming Toulon Tournament.

“Il will be difficult for us as our players will face national teams which boast youth categories for years. If we don’t take risks on the pretext that we don’t possess youth championships in our country, we will never improve. We will maybe be spanked by some opponents but we will learn”, said Claude Le Roy during a press conference held at the federation’s headquarters.

Le Roy has also informed that the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) will organize two training camps, in March and April, in order to see which players could be selected for the Toulon Tournament.
