Alisson Ramses Becker. This name meant nothing to the fans who filled the grounds of the Stade du Ray (Nice) to watch the Maurice Revello Tournament 2013 final between Brazil and Colombia (1-0). At that moment, the Novo-Hamburgo-born hasn’t played yet a Brazilian league game with his childhood club Internacional Porto Alegre.

Five years later, Alisson established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world like illustrated by his recent move. Liverpool have announced on Thursday his arrival from AS Roma in a world record €75m deal !

The Brazil international (31 caps), who has been the Seleçao starting goalkeeper during the World Cuo 2018, has enjoyed an astonishing rise over the last months. Even if he faced some struggles during his first months in Europe.

AS Roma signed him on July 2016 from Internacional Porto Alegre in a €8,5M-deal. His first season in Italy has been far from ideal as he hasn’t played a single minute in the Serie A during the 2016-2017 campaign. “Let’s say that I learned to have a bit of patience”, he told to the Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Alisson eventually forced his way into the AS Roma starting XI during the 2017-2018 season and has expressed his huge talent. The Brazilian keeper kept 17 clean sheets in the Serie A and has also made 46 saves in Champions League, the highest tally in this competition.

"Right now Alisson is the Pele of goalkeepers”, said the Brazilian legend Claudio Taffarel to the Italian outlet Il Giornale.

His performances have attracted the interest from the best clubs in Europe but Alisson has opted for Liverpool and the Premier League. “It’s a dream come true”, he said after signing a six-year-contract with the Reds
