From 1st to 21st November, the CONCACAF U20 Championship is held in Bradenton (Florida, USA). Thirty-four nations, divided into six groups, take part in a preliminary round. The leader of each group will qualify for a final round where six nations, divided into two groups, will try to clinch one of the four qualifying spots for the U20 World Cup. During the Matchday 5 of the preliminary round, José Macias, seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018, has shone agan.
Mexico – Aruba : 10-0
Level on points with Jamaica, the Mexicans needed a win against Aruba to avoid a bad surprise. Eventually, “El Tri” secured its spot for the final round by hammering Aruba. As usual, José Macias, seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018, has shone. The top scorer of the competition scored four goals and took his tally to 10 goals netted in 5 games. Stunning !
Group B : Mexico 13 pts (+29), Jamaica 13 pts (+21), Grenada 6 pts, Nicaragua 6 pts, Aruba 4 pts, Saint Martin 1 pt.
Sint Marteen – Cuba : 0-7
Against the bottom side, Cuba earned their fourth win in this competition. Like during the previous game, Christian Flores, seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2017, found the net.
Despite their good run, Cuba will not take part in the final round as Honduras finished atop of the group with five wins in as many games.
Group C : Honduras 15 pts, Cuba 12 pts, Dominican Republic 9 pts, Antigua and Barbuda 6 pts, Belize 3 pts, Sint Marteen 0 pt.
Martinique – Canada : 1-2
Already eliminated, Canada finished their tournament on a positive note. A win earned notably thanks to Clément Bayiha. The Ottawa Fury defender, seen this summer at the Maurice Revello Tournament, doubled the lead of his side during the first half. Meanwhile, Noble Okello (3 goals) had the opportunity to score as well in the second half but his header hit the post.
Group D : Panama 15 pts, Guadeloupe 9 pts, Canada 9 pts, Dominica 6 pts, Martinique 3 pts, Saint-Kitts-and-Nevis 3 pts.
