For their first Maurice Revello Tournament game since 2014, Chile earned a 1-0 win over Portugal. La Roja scored an early goal thanks to Mathias Pinto : after a corner kicked by FC Dallas midfielder Pablo Aranguiz, the Nublense forward found the net thanks to a header.
Despite their efforts, Portuguese players struggled to create chances. They waited the hour mark to really threaten the defence but the Chile goalkeeper Gonzalo Collao stopped the attempts.
Thanks to this win, Chile are now joint leaders of the group A with the Japanese who won against England (2-1) in the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 opener.
