Connolly, Matheus Henrique, Moukoudi… the Maurice Revello Tournament graduates burst onto the international scene

Each international break is the opportunity for several players who took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament to make their international debut. Over the last days, some of them earned their first international cap.

Pedro Altan (Guatemala)

Few months after participating at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019, the 22-year-old midfielder forced his way into the Guatemala senior team. He earned his first cap with Los Chapines during the 5-0 win over Anguilla (5-0) in the CONCACAF Nations League. Thanks to this win, Guatemala secured their promotion to the Division B and continue their revival on the continental scene.

Aaron Connolly (Ireland)

This is a month to remember for the 19-year-old forward who played the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019. On 5th October, the Brighton player made the headlines as he scored a brace for his Premier League start against Champions League runners-up Tottenham (3-0). The same day, Connollly was called up to the Ireland senior team for the first time ever. The fairytale story continued as Connolly made his international debut during the 0-0 draw against Georgia. Thanks to this resulat, Ireland are still leading the group D of the Euro 2020 qualifiers with two games remaining.

Matheus Henrique (Brazil)

Winner of the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 with the Brazilian Olympic team, the Gremio player made his international debut with the Brazil senior team agains Senegal (1-1). The 21-year-old midfielder came off the bench after 68 minutes as he replaced the Barcelona ace Arthur. After this first cap with the Seleçao, another big moment awaits Matheus Henrique in the upcoming days : the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semi-finals against Flamengo at the end of the month.

Harold Moukoudi (Cameroon)

Since joining the club this summer, the 21-year-old solid defender established himself as a regular starter for AS Saint-Etienne. His good start to life at Geoffroy-Guichard has been rewarded by a first international cap. Not with France, a country he has represented at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018, but with Cameroon. Moukoudi played his first minutes with les Lions Indomptables during the friendly against Tunisia (0-0).

Hildeberto Pereira (Cape Verde)

Member of the Portugal squad that played the Maurice Revello Tournament 2016, the Vitoria Setubal player has decided to represent Cape Verde at the international level. The 23-year-old played his first minutes with the Tubarões Azuis against Togo (2-1), a friendly co-organized by... the Maurice Revello Tournament !

Mathias Villasanti (Paraguay)

Since his participation at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2016, the Cerro Porteno has enjoyed two loan spells : a first one in Argentina at CA Temperley and another one at Sportivo Luqueno in the Paraguayian top-flight. Before making a breakthrough at Cerro Porteno this year by notably playing 10 Copa Libertadores games ! An improvement rewarded by an international debut with the Paraguay senior team. Villasanti played his first two games avec the Albirroja during this international break as he has started both games against Serbia (0-1) and Slovakia (1-1).
