To kick off the second week of competition, Ukraine returned to Aubagne to take on Japan. After 3 matches and 3 wins, Ruslan Rotan's men were looking to finish their group phase on a high note and meet Côte d'Ivoire in the final of the tournament. Opposite them, the Japanese, who had only participated in two matches prior to this encounter, were keen to confirm their victory over Indonesia (4-1). In a hard-fought encounter, Ukraine once again dominated their opponents, winning 2-1 to reach the final of the tournament.
