L'Angleterre déçoit mais poursuit sa route
England disappoints but carries on

Sans véritablement briller, l'Angleterre obtient son ticket pour la "petite finale" en concédant un match nul décevant face à la Colombie (1-1). La sélection des Three Lions affrontera le Portugal pour la troisième place du tournoi, dimanche. Tout au long de la rencontre, les deux équipes ont éprouvé toutes les difficultés du monde à se montrer dangereuses. Peu de spectacle donc et des buts pas vraiment enthousiasmants. Le premier est d'ailleurs offert sur un plateau par la défense colombienne. Hernandez (COL, 2) dégage un ballon qui traîne devant la surface mais le ballon heurte le tibia de son compère Londono (COL, 4). La balle revient dans les pieds de Woodrow (ENG, 19) seul au point de pénalty, qui n'a plus qu'à contrôler et ajuster tranquillement du plat du pied le gardien (1-0, 15').

L'Angleterre n'est pas loin de prendre le large quelques minutes plus tard. Gibson (ENG, 16) est à la réception d'un corner venu de la droite mais sa tête est sauvée sur la ligne par Londono (COL, 4). Les Britanniques ont peut-être laissé passer leur chance tant les occasions sont rares dans cette rencontre. S'ils ne sont guère inquiétés, ils peinent aussi à approcher le but de Montero (COL, 12). La Colombie est, elle, à nouveau décevante dans ce tournoi. Aucune réelle opportunité jusqu'à la 68ème minute. Jhoao Rodriguez (COL, 9) reprend avec réussite un centre de Tello (COL, 6) et égalise (1-1, 68'). Pas de quoi emballer une rencontre bien triste…

England is not far to increase the score few minutes later. Gibson (ENG, 16) receives a corner from the right side but his header is saved on the line by Londono (COL, 4). English may missed their chance seeing as rare attempts of the game. If they are not worried, they can't reach Montero (COL, 12) net. As for Colombia, the performance is disappointing, again in this tournament. No real chances until the 68th minute. Jhoao Rodriguez (COL, 9) receives a cross from Tello (COL, 6) and equalizes, with some luck (1-1, 68'). Not enough to bring some enthusiasm to the game…
