Scotland keep their dream alive after beating South Korea

Thanks to their 2-1 win over South Korea, the Scottish players finished atop group B and qualified for the semi-finals. Meanwhile, this is over for the South Koreans who lost their three games.

The Tartan Armay produced a better overall display than their opponents. A victory earned thanks to a tremendous start of the game. The Scottish break the deadlock at the first minute by Gilmour who puts the ball into the net thanks to a right-foot shot. Impossible for the keeper to stop it !
Burke pursues then the good work of his teammates. After a long run, the WBA starket finds the net after a brilliant pass from Fraser Hornby (8th minute). Remarkable performance from the Scot Gemmil’s men during those ten first minutes. The Korean side is clearly disturbed by the Scottish style of play and redoubles its efforts to play higher on the pitch. Unfortunately, the Asians aren’t quick enough in the build-up.
Dominated along the first half, the South Koreans go back in the changing room with two goals to catch up.

In the second half, the domination from Scot Gemmil’s men is total. Same strategy than in first half, the Scottish side has the possession, but the South Koreans don’t give up and press higher. And it pays off at the 71th minute when Lee Kangin fires a stunning free-kick to reduce the deficit. Where there’s life there’s hope but this does not apply for the South Korean who couldn’t score another goal.

Thanks to this win, Scotland secured the top spot of the group as Togo have been beaten by France (0-2) few hours later. It means that Burke & co advance to the next round !
