From Maurice Revello Tournament to Mexico…via Peru ! Thousands of kilometers away from his native Ivory Coast, Aké Loba made a name for himself in Latin America. After impressing with the Peruvian side Universidad San Martin de Porres, he has signed over the last days for the Liga MX club Queretaro. Former side of the Brazilian legend Ronaldinho.
After arriving in Peru as an unknown, Aké Loba made a name for himself the following months and leaves the country through the front door. Little throwback.
Few months after helping Ivory Coast to reach the Maurice Revello Tournament 2017 final, the young Ivorian striker has left Société Omnisports de l’Armée and his native Ivory Coast on January 2018. He has opted for an exotic destination : South America. More precisely, Callao, hometown of… the Peruvian side Universidad San Martin de Porres ! At 8000 kilometers from Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast.
Alongside fellow countrymen Koffi Dakoi and Aboubacar Kouyaté, the 20-year-old striker has taken the Primera Division by storm. He has adapted quickly to his new life like illustrated by the 18 goals scored in 32 league games.
His heroics weren’t enough to help USM Porres clinch a Copa Sudamericano spot. However, his performances have attracted the interest from several clubs. Eventually, the future of L’Eléphanteau has been sealed over the last days. Through a statement, the Mexican side Queretaro has announced the signing of Loba.
With this transfer, the former side of Ronaldinho (between 2014 and 2015) will try to bolster its chances to qualify for the Liga MX play-offs. For Loba, it’s an opportunity to shine in a more renowned league than the Primera Division. With the same success ?
