The 48th edition of the Maurice Revello Tournament will take place from June 1 to 14 in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. The format of the competition remains identical to previous years: 12 teams will participate in the Tournament and will be divided into 3 groups of 4 teams each. At the end of the group phase, the winners of each group and the best runner-up qualify for the semi-finals. The remaining teams play ranking matches.
Since the beginning of the current month, we have started to unveil progressively the Maurice Revello Tournament 2020 line-up. After announcing the participation of the Democratic Republic of Congo, we are glad to confirm that Japan will be among the participating teams of this year's edition.
The Samuraï Blue, who will make their fifteenth appearance at the Tournament, will come back in the Southern France with a clear aim : prepare the Tokyo Olympics which are planned to be held on next July.
A number of famous Japan internationals took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament in the past. For example, Shinji Okazaki, Keisuke Honda and Maya Yoshida all played the Tournament in 2008 while the Liverpool new signing Takumi Minamino took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament 2016.

As a reminder, Japan made their best performance ever at the Maurice Revello Tournament last year as they have reached the final after a fantastic run.
