Emerson, Kangin Lee, Trincao... The 8 to watch this season in La Liga

While the summer transfer market has just closed its doors, it is now time to take a look at the Maurice Revello Tournament graduates who could make a name for themselves this season in La Liga. From Emerson to Trincao, here is our list of eight players !

Emerson Aparecido (Betis)

Signed by FC Barcelona in January 2019 and loaned to Betis, the winner of the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 confirmed all the potential seen in Brazilian Serie A: after a convincing 2019-2020 season with Betis (33 La Liga games, 3 goals, 6 assists) which opened him the doors to the Seleçao, the Brazilian international (1 cap) will live another full season with the Sevillian club. Before returning to Barça at the end of the current season.

Yassine Bounou (Sevilla FC)

Although he was a substitute in La Liga last season, the Moroccan international (11 caps) was the starting goalkeeper for Sevilla last season on the continental stage and made a major contribution to the Europa League won by his team.
These European performances have enabled the 29-year-old to become the number one goalkeeper in the league, as we saw at the start of the current season.

Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco (Atletico Madrid)

The year 2020 was the opportunity for the 27-year-old attacking midfielder to return to Atletico Madrid (first spell between 2015 and 2018) after two successful years in the Chinese Super League (24 goals in 50 games with Dalian Pro). Having returned to the Madrid capital since last January, the player who took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament 2013 has the favour of his coach, Diego Simeone. "It was a huge challenge for him to come back here and regain his level, but it worked out for him. He is back to the player he was before he left for China", the Colchoneros coach recently commented.
All that remains to be confirmed in the coming months, while the Euro 2021 is scheduled at the end of the season...

Diego Lainez (Betis)

"It's true that Lainez hasn't played much, but he's a great player. He's learning and I hope that he will soon be able to step up to the next level and have more minutes". This quote of Rafael Marquez, the former rock of FC Barcelona, sums up perfectly the situation of the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 best player. Signed in January 2019 from Club America for 14M€, the Mexican international (5 caps) has still not established himself as a regular at Betis. And what if it was for this season ?

Kangin Lee (Valencia)

Often appearing last season with Valencia, but not very well established, the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 fourth best player should see his playing time increase significantly after Ferran Torres and Rodrigo left this summer. In any case, his 2020-2021 season has started with two assists against Levante (4-2). At 19 years old, the South Korean international (3 caps) could be one of the breakthrough players of La Liga in the coming months.

Rui Silva (Granada)

Six years after his participation in the Maurice Revello Tournament 2014, the Portuguese goalkeeper seems to have reached maturity. Named as the best goalkeeper in the Spanish second division in 2018-2019, Rui Silva continued his success in 2019-2020 in La Liga, being one of the major assets of Granada's historical qualification for the Europa League at the end of the season.
As proof of his good form, the tall goalkeeper (1.91m) was called-up with Portugal's senior national team for the first time in his career last September. Between the discovery of the Europa League with Granada and a possible call-up for the Euro 2021 with Portugal, the next few months promise to be exciting for Rui Silva.

Tomas Tavares (Alaves)

Just after the Maurice Revello Tournament 2019 with Portugal, the 19-year-old right-back kept rising with Benfica, making his Liga NOS debut and later becoming a regular for the Lisbon club in the European Cups (5 Champions League starts, 2 Europa League starts in 2019-2020). Then, the arrival of a new coach stopped him.
In order to not slow down his progress, the Lisbon executives decided to loan him to La Liga and more precisely to Alaves where he will most certainly have his word to say.

Francisco Trincao (FC Barcelone)

Since the beginning of September, the 20-year-old Portuguese wonderkid has experienced two major events: a first appearance with FC Barcelona and, at the same time, a first cap with Portugal's national team.
Signed for nearly 31M€ by the Blaugrana club from Braga, the Portuguese new international (3 caps) seems to be appreciated by the new Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman and should make a name for himself this season.
What a long path since the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018...
