After joining Rangers this summer from Nottingham Forest, Joe Worrall has made his debut on this Thursday with the Glasgow-based club. The Maurice Revello Tournament 2017 winner has played the full game against Villarreal (2-2). It was his first ever appearance in a European competition.
The 21-year-old defender has produced a solid display and was praised by his coach Steven Gerrard. “When a manager gives you your debut away in the Europa League, against a side of this level, it was a big ask for him to come in and perform. I thought he was outstanding", told the Gers coach.
Worrall himself was delighted with his performance : “I wasn’t surprised to be thrown into such a big game. I’ve got enough experience even at a young age to cope at this level and I proved it here.”
After the draw earned in Spain, the Scottish side will face Rapid Vienne (Austria) on 4th October.
