River Plate won their fourth Copa Libertadores after beating their rivals Boca Juniors (3-1) during the final second leg held on Sunday at Madrid, one month after the first leg played at Buenos Aires (2-2).
Suspended for this game following the yellow card picked up in the first leg, Rafael Borré has played a key role in this winning run. The 23-year-old forward, seen at the Maurice Revello Tournament 2014, has found the net during the last round of 16 against Racing (Argentina), in the quarter finals against Independiente (Argentine) and during the semi-finals against the title holders Gremio (Brazil).
Signed by River Plate on 2017 from Atletico Madrid, the Colombian striker could return to his former club this winter. According to Colombian sources, the Colchoneros, seduced by the latest performances made by their former player, are keen to activate their €7M buy-back clause.
Borré has an exciting challenge ahead of him with River Plate : the FIFA Club World Cup held in United Arab Emirates from 12th to 22nd December.
For their opening game, they will face ES Tunis (Tunisia), Al Ain (UAE) or Team Wellington (New Zealand).
