First win for Mexico over Bulgaria

img
Mexico get their first win of the tournament by beating Bulgaria after a controlled game (1-0). Cota's teammates handled the game very quickly. After a wonderful lob pass from Fierro, Lorona's shot was saved by the goalkeeper (6'). We found again Fierro a few minutes later. Gonzalez brillantly passed it to the striker, who scored into the box and gave the lead to Mexico (1-0, 18'). Fierro-Gonzalez connection worked very well and caused many problems to Bulgaria. Both found each other again onthe box, but Gonzalez's shot after Fierro's gift at the enter of the box missed the net (25'). Totally harmless, Bulgaria was overwhelmed. Antoni Zdravkov was obviously annoyed by his team's performance. Ten minutes before the break, he made two substitutions, unusual during a first half.

Those changes woke up Bulgaria. Malinov get the first chance for his team but his volley was blocked by Gudino (50'). Mexico responded with Cota, who also tried a volley, but this time, it was off the net (52'). More comfortable in their game, Bulgarians however had difficulties to create themselves opportunities because of a lack of accuracy. It was Mexico who get the last chances of the game. Fierro crossed for Lorona, but without any danger for Kitanov (70'). Raul Gutierrez's team ends its tournament by a win after two losses and a draw. Another defeat for Bulgaria after the one against France and the draw with Czech Republic.
