Mike Havenaar, who took part in the 2007 Toulon Tournament, is finally back ! After two difficult spells at Cordoba (Liga) and HJK Helsinki (Finnish first division), the 28-year-old has rediscovered his goalscoring form since joining ADO Den Haag (Eredivisie) during the last summer. The Japanese striker has already scored 12 goals in 21 league games this season.
Thanks to his performances, Havenaar (17 capes) has caught the Japan head coach’s attention for a return. “No one is guaranteed a place and everyone has to fight for it, but Mike’s height would give the team a new option so I hope he makes the most of any future opportunities”, Vahid Halilhodzic told the Japan Football Association official website. As a reminder, Havenaar hasn’t played for his country since October 2014.
