The South American Championship U20, called the Sudamericano U20, is currently taking place at Ecuador (18 January-11 February). During the Matchday 1, the Brazilians distinguished themselves.
Group A : Brazil 3 pts, Colombia 1 pt, Paraguay 1 pt, Chile 0 pt, Ecuador 0 pt.
Brazil kicked off their campaign by a 1-0 win over hosts Ecuador. After missing a huge opportunity in the first half, the Flamengo starlet Felipe Vizeu has netted the winning goal after being set up in the box by Richarlison.
In the other game, Colombia and Paraguay shared the spoils (1-1). Carlos Ferreira gave the lead to Paraguay after 81 minutes but Daniel Ceter scored the equalizer for Colombia eight minutes later.
Group B : Argentina 1 pt, Peru 1 pt, Uruguay 1 pt, Venezuela 1 pt, Bolivia 0 pt
Despite some clear chances, Uruguay couldn’t find a way through Venezuela’s defence (0-0) : the Uruguayans can regret their lack of efficiency as the Nicolas Schiappacasse’s effort hit the post in the first half while the captain Nicolas De La Cruz missed a penalty in the second half.
The second game of the group between Argentina and Peru followed a similar pattern (1-1). Roberto Siucho gave an early lead to Peru but Argentina leveled the scoring thanks to Lautaro Martinez who netted a late equaliser.
