The African Cup of Nations U20 is currently taking place (26 February-12 March) at Zambia. During the Matchday 3 of the group stage, Guinea secured their place for the World Cup U20 after a thrilling win. Meanwhile, Senegal and South Africa booked their place too for the WCU20.
Group A : Zambia 9 pts, Guinea 4 pts, Egypt 2 pts, Mali 1 pt.
Guinea came from behind to earn a 3-2 win over Mali and secure their place for the World Cup U20. The Malian forward Sekou Koita netted an early opener as he fired a powerful strike into the top corner after only three minutes. In the second half, Guinea leveled the scores thanks to a penalty converted by Morlaye Sylla. However, Mali took the lead again as Moussa Diakite scored on a penalty. Just before the hour mark, Morlaye Sylla distinguished himself again as the Guinean forward found the back of the net with a perfect free-kick. Then, Mohamed Aly Camara netted the winner for Guinea with fifteen minutes remaining.
In the other game, Zambia clinched a third win in a row against as they beat Egypt (3-1). The Egyptian forward Karim Hasan scored the opener in the first half but the Zambians overcome this one-goal deficit thanks to a brace from Patson Daka and a Fashion Sakala’s goal in the second half.
Group B : Senegal 7 pts, South Africa 6 pts, Cameroon 3 pts, Sudan 1 pt.
Senegal beat Cameroon (2-0) to finish atop Group B. The goals were scored by Ibrahima Niane as well as Krepin Diatta.
Meanwhile, South Africa have outclassed Sudan (3-1). Phakamani Mahlambi gave the lead to South Africa in the first half but Khaled Osman equalized for Sudan with a close-range shot. South Africa have dominated the second half and were rewarded for their efforts as Sibongakonke Mbatha and Grant Margeman got their names on the scoresheet.
