"We can start preparing the tournament together." Wales coach Rob Page, spoke about his team's participation in the Toulon Tournament, during an interview published on the FA Wales official Twitter account. After the announcement of the Welsh group a few days ago, the British technician is now looking forward. "It's nice to watch the boys play in the club, but it's better to go ahead", he says."We'll have a good week, with three games in 5 or 6 days. It will be great to see young talents we brought".
These young talents have good reasons to show themselves, even if it is the first time that the Welsh selection participates to the Toulon Tournament. "It is the opportunity for the youngsters to show good things in order to play 2019 Euro U21 qualifiers which begin in next September. There are a lot of lads who are coming with us for the first time, so they can finally show the best of themselves", assures Rob Page. This one already has an eye on the future Euro qualifying campaign. "Euro U21 qualifiers start on September 1st for us, but our opponents start to play before, so I’ll be watching them", avers the trainer.
Rob Page is expecting tough challenge from the Wales opponents. "Our first three games are very complicated, especially the first against France playing at home. In this kind of tournament we want to play against greatests and France is one of them. We are already grateful to have been invited, but now we want to show beautiful things and pass the group stage", affirms the Welsh coach.
To make it happen, Rob Page is particularly interested in two of his offensive players: Tyler Roberts, the forward who spent the season on loan in Shrewsbury and the Coventry's young striker George Thomas. "George was exceptional this year, just like Tyler. Playing against the professionals is very benefit for them", explains their selection's coach.
They will have the opportunity to do that in May 30th, against France.
