142 international caps. More than sixteen years with Brazil national squad started on 1990 on... French pitches ! Before to launch a successful and exceptional carreer with Seleçao, Cafu made his debut during Toulon Tournament 1990. The Brazilian right-back, who was only twenty years old, was pretty unknown at the moment as he was just a novice with with Sao Paulo.
However, he has shone and drew attention on him during the competition, as he finished third with Brazil. Just after the Toulon Tournament, he won the Brazilian League (1991) and two Copa Libertadores in a row (1992, 1993).
"Il Pendolino"
After a short experience in Saragosse (1995) and two seasons in Palmeiras (1995-1997), he finally discovered Europe in 1997. With Roma and then Milan, he made eleven seasons at a very high level and became one of the best defenders of Serie A. Inexhaustible and very offensive on his wing, Italy gave him "Il Pendolino" as nickname, as is called the fast Italian train.
After a Champions League won with Milan (2007), he kept succeed with Brazil. He is one of the rare players to have clinched two World Cups (1994, 2002) and even the only one in history to have played three World Cups finals (1994, 1998, 2002). At this day, he is the most-caped player in Seleçao history.
