A dazzling ascent from Monaco starlet Thomas Lemar

If many great youngsters can’t confirm at the highest level, Thomas Lemar starts his career very well. The 21-year-old midfielder, revealed at the 2015 Toulon Tournament, is already at the top. Actually, he just won the Ligue 1 with AS Monaco, for the first time of his career. A title that illustrates the explosion of the Guadeloupean.

Professional for four years, Thomas Lemar is now reaching the heights. With 14 goals and 16 assists in all competitions this season, he is one of Europe's best left wingers. A spot he already occupied before, but where Leonardo Jardim stabilized him. Indeed, the former Caen player used to switch between different positions: center midfielder, left or right winger.

The young prospect distinguished him when he was playing in Normandy, but it was on this left hand side at Monaco that he exploded, as much in the game as in stats. With this final replacement, Thomas Lemar has more than tripled his offensive performances. More than a technical ease and a quality of pass above the average, the Monegasque shows he became such a prolific player.

This increased efficiency will open the doors of the French national team to him, a few days after his 21st birthday in November 2016. A selection he already knew from U17 to U21, and which allowed him to show his talent. And it has paid off: AS Monaco recruited him for 4M € just three weeks after his victory at the Toulon Tournament

Ligue 1 winner, semi-finalist of Champions League and official member of the French selection ... Thomas Lemar may be proud of what he has accomplished, less than four years after his professional debut.
