The Argentinian became the Chile’s head coach one year ago. He was also in charge of the youth teams including the U21 squad that played the Toulon Tournament 2008.

Drawn in the group A alongside France, Japan, Netherlands, the Chileans stole the show in their opener against the French national team.
The Bielsa boys found themselves down to 1-3 before the hour mark but the South Americans have reversed the trend as they have eventually won the game… 5-3 ! Goals from Fuenzalida, Martinez, Lorca, Sagredo and an own from Louvion were enough to secure a win for Chile.

Against the Italians, the young Chileans couldn’t find the net for the first in the competition and were finally defeated as Pablo Osvaldo scored the winner for Italy (0-1). Despite this loss, the Chile’s participation is still in the memories ten years later. The fans were gripped with the style of play, the displays, the team spirit shown by this Chilean squad !
