The World Cup 2018 takes place from 14th June to 15th July. It should be noted that 81 players who took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament compete in the World Cup. Throughout the competition, we will take look at their performances !

Uruguay-Russia : 3-0

Both already qualified for the round of 16, Uruguay and Russia faced each other for the top spot in the group A. Fedor Smolov, who came off the bench on the hour mark, and his teammates have been outclassed by their opponents.

Saudi Arabia-Egypt : 2-1

Three defeats in as many games and a last-place finish in the group A : it was obviously a very disappointing World Cup campaign for Egypt. Like during the first two games, Ahmed Hegazy and Marwan Mohsen have been included in the starting XI for the clash against Saudi Arabia.

Iran-Portugal : 1-1

Five Portuguese players who took part in the Toulon Tournament have started the game against Iran :  Rui Patricio, Cédric Soares, Adrien Silva, Joao Mario and Cristiano Ronaldo. The latter missed a penalty while Adrien has been involved in the goal scored by the Seleçao in the first half.

Spain-Morocco : 2-2

The Moroccans were close to create a huge sensation as they were leading 2-1 until the 91st minute. Manuel Da Costa, Younes Belhanda & co can have some regrets !

Denmark-France : 0-0

This game was the opportunity for some Maurice Revello Tournament former players to make their World Cup debut : Steve Mandanda, Djibril Sidibé, Presnel Kimpembe and Thomas Lemar. Despite this, Les Bleus were held to a draw.

Nigeria-Argentina : 1-2

The Albiceleste secured a spot for the last 16 with a dramatic late 2-1 win over the Super Eagles. Gabriel Mercado, Javier Mascherano and Ever Banega started the game and helped their country to reach the next stage. Banega has notably delivered a fantastic assist in the first half !
