The U19 Asian Championship, held from 18th October to 4th November in Indonesia, features the 16 best nations of the continent. This week, Qatar, South Korea, Japan and Saudi Arabia reached the last four and secured their spot for the upcoming U20 World Cup held in Poland next summer.
During the semi-finals, one player seen during the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 has been on fire : Jeon Se-Jin.
Qatar – South Korea : 1-3
This game between the two nations was also a face-to-face between two talents seen during the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018 : the Qatari attacking midfielder Hashim Ali and the South Korean forward Jeon Se-Jin. Eventually, the latter was the one who made the headlines after the game.
In good form since the start to the competition, the Suwon striker distinguished himself once again as he scored twice in the first half, taking his tally to five goals scored in the Asian Championship. Just before the half time, Eom Won-Sang found the net as well.
On Sunday, South Korea will face Saudi Arabia in the final and will try to win the competition for the 13th time in the history.
Japan – Saudi Arabia : 0-2
The Samuraï Blue have opted for a squad rotation ahead of this semi-final. Japan made nine changes to their starting line-up which beat Indonesia in quarter-finals. They started the game notably without their starlet Hiroki Abe who has been recalled by Kashima Antlers to take part in the Asian Champions League final.
Weakened, the title holders have been beaten by the Saudis who clinched the win thanks to goals from Turki Al-Ammar and Khalid Al Ghannam.
