Each month, we select the Team of the Month featuring only Maurice Revello Tournament graduates who have shone with their clubs and/or their national teams. Let’s take a look at the players who stole the show on January.
José Sa (Olympiakos) : Thanks especially to the Portuguese keeper, the Piraeus club won four of their five games in January, all of them conceding just two goals. This performance helped Olympiakos remain unbeaten and consolidate their position as leaders in the Greek league.
João Cancelo (Manchester City) : The right-back, who featured in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2014, keeps improving. Unbeaten with City in January, the Barreiro native has delivered a string of quality performances, including an assist against Fulham in the FA Cup.
Reece James (Chelsea) : Man of the match against Brighton, an assist against Burnley, very good then against Newcastle and Leicester ... The England full-back, who has had two appearances at the Maurice Revello Tournament, is now earning his place at Chelsea.
Ruben Dias (Benfica) : Six games, six wins. January was a prolific month for Benfica, with the central defender adding an assist to his quality performances.
Ruben Semedo (Olympiakos) : A solid member of the Greek club's defense, the Portuguese defender's quality performances have participated to the four wins of his team in the month.
Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) : The England midfielder is one of the contenders for the title of Premier League's Player of the Month. With two goals and an assist in January, the man who played the Tournament in 2016 also helped Aston Villa to qualify for the Carabao Cup final.
James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) : The excellent free-kick taker didn't put his name in the scoresheet in January, but still managed to offer some quality games. The elegant midfielder was part of his team's very good month.
Ludovic Blas (Nantes) : Despite three consecutive losses for Nantes at the end of the month, the French midfielder shined in the midfield. A goalscorer in his side's success at Saint-Etienne, the 2018 Maurice Revello Tournament graduate has showed his technique and skills in recent weeks.
Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) : 8 goals, 2 assists, 4 wins in 5 games... The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who made it through the Tournament in 2003, has been outstanding in January. He scored a brace against Fiorentina at the weekend and started February on the same basis. Unbelievable.
Nathan Redmond (Southampton) : The second Southampton player in the team, the England winger has caused many problems for opposing defences over the past month. With an assist and a goal against Crystal Palace, the player, who played in the 2014 and 2016 tournaments, is in great form.
Andy Delort (Montpellier) : January was a prolific month for the Algerian striker, who scored four goals in five games played. The forward, who played in the Tournament in 2011, was the main architect of his club's 4 consecutive wins between 5 and 25 January.
