The Champions League resumes this Tuesday evening with the first matchday of the group stage. As every year, many players who have passed through the Maurice Revello Tournament will play in the competition. This season, there are nearly 80 of them.

Who will succeed Chelsea? Will the favourites be there? What will be the surprise of this edition? These are just some of the issues at stake in the 2021-2022 Champions League, which opens this Tuesday evening with the first matchday of the group stage.

The competition is always full of promise and this year is no exception, given the make-up of the groups. Many clashes between big names and favourites are on the programme throughout this first phase. The opening day has already seen some of them. On Tuesday, Barça host Bayern and on Wednesday, Inter host Real, Liverpool AC Milan and Manchester City Leipzig. Exciting, and that's just the beginning.

We will also be keeping a close eye on all the players who have been through the Tournament and who are competing in the competition. There are 77 of them this year. Paris Saint-Germain and FC Porto are the clubs with the most, with 6 and 11 former Tournament players in their ranks respectively.
