Mais la chance n'est décidément pas avec eux aujourd'hui. Coupable d'une main dans la surface, Solorio (MEX, 14) concède le pénalty. Une aubaine pour Bravo (CHI, 7), qui le transforme et s'offre un doublé (2-1, 47'). L'égalisation de Trevino (MEX, 15) d'une jolie frappe à l'heure de jeu ne change finalement rien à l'issue du match (2-2, 62'). Le Mexique est éliminé après un troisième match sans victoire dans ce tournoi, comme le Chili.
To believe in a small chance to qualify for the next step, Mexico had to win. But the team doesn't, with this draw against a good Chile (2-2), already shut-out. Claudio Vivas made a turn-over for this game. And it starts in a very bad way for Mexico. On a great pass by Felipe Mora (CHI, 9), Bravo (CHI, 7) shoots and opens the score for Chile (1-0, 1'). A hard blow for Raul Gutierez men, who don't spend a lot of time to rise up. After an accurate free-kick on the right side by Espericueta (MEX, 16), Marin (MEX, 3) equalizes with a powerful header (1-1, 21'). There is not many attempts, despite the fighting spirit and the determination shown by both teams.
But Mexico isn't lucky today. Solorio (MEX, 14) touches the ball with his hand in the box and the referee shows the penalty spot. Bravo (CHI, 7) doesn't miss the chance and scores his second goal of the game (2-1, 47'). Trevino (MEX, 15) equalization with an accurate shot doesn't change the result of the game (2-2, 62'). Mexico is out of the competition after a third game without winning, as Chile.
