A few days before the beggining of the second edition of the Sud Ladies Cup, from 8th to 18th May, here is an overview of the six participating squads. Ones are favourites, others are underdogs, but all will have the same goal : do their best and finish as high as possible. Today, zoom on France.
And if, for once, the younger would show the way to her elder ? While France national squad will be in preparation for the World Cup from 7th June to 7th July, the U19 squad will compete in the Sud Ladies Cup one month earlier. Les Tricolores will have the opportunity to set an example a few weeks before the historical event that their elders are waiting for.

Second of the first edition last year, “Les Bleuettes” will be one of the favorites besides Japan and DPR Korea. Still led by the head coach Gilles Eyquem, already there in 2018, they will have the U19 Euro in mind, which will be held from 16th to 28th July in Scotland. They brilliantly qualified for this European championship after an Elite Tour totally controlled at the beggining of April in West of France. After two convincing wins over Portugal (6-0) and Slovakia (6-0), the French secured their qualification by sharing the points with Slovenia (0-0).
Enough to come to the Sud Ladies Cup with ambition and desire. The stake will be important for Les Bleuettes : working their tactics and strategy and earning some confidence in order to start the Euro in the best shape possible. Gilles Eyquem's young players will surely aim to justify this status, also as the competition hosts. Like their elders, who will go after a world title at home. The young French players will have the mission to set an example and inspire their “grown sisters”. And why not dreaming about a wonderful double and an as festive and triumphant summer as last year…
