After a superb season with Atlas CF, Mexican striker Alison Gonzalez was awarded the trophy for the best young player of the season in Liga BBVA Feminil, Mexico's top women's division.
It is a year she will remember for a long time. In 2021, Alison Gonzalez has experienced almost everything. The latest episode, and not the least, took place on Sunday. As the new season kicked off, the Mexican league handed out the trophies and individual awards for the past season. And among the winners was Alison Gonzalez. The striker who played in the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 was named as the best young player of the year. A distinction that is fully deserved as her season has been so remarkable.
At just 19 years old, she has impressed with her efficiency and composure in front of goal. The proof is in her title of top scorer in the league with 18 goals. She had already scored 17 the previous season. Since making her debuts with Tigres in 2018, Gonzalez has found the back of the net 67 times. And the new campaign has already started on a high note. In the first matchday against Toluca on Monday, Atlas won 3-2 thanks to a hat-trick from Alison Gonzalez. The goal is to improve on the semi-final of the Clausura last May, when Gonzalez and her team-mates' hopes of a national title were ended.
In the meantime, the player will have plenty to look forward to, both at club and international level. The centre-forward made her first senior international appearance last June. She came on as a substitute in a friendly against Japan and even scored a goal. A happy memory among many others in Alison Gonzalez's young career.
