Every international break is an opportunity for several talents who have played in the Sud Ladies Cup to make their senior national team debut. The last few days have been no exception. Here's the lowdown.
Jaedyn Shaw (United States)
Winner of the Sud Ladies Cup 2022, a competition in which she excelled ( she was named in the tournament's best XI), the promising 18-year-old forward is continuing her rise. In recent days, Shaw made her international debut with the USA senior team in a double friendly against Colombia (0-0, 3-0). Although she did not have time to shine in the first match (she came on in the 87th minute), the San Diego Wave gem scored in the second match against the Colombians. Could this be the first of many on the international stage ?
Marlène Essimi and Naomie Ndjoah Eto (Cameroon)
The process of rejuvenating the Cameroon squad, which began in recent weeks, is continuing with the inclusion of a number of young talents spotted at the Sud Ladies Cup 2023.
After Ines Maague and Brenda Tabe a month earlier, it was the turn of Marlène Essimi (17) and Naomie Ndjoah Eto (19) to make their first appearance for the Indomitable Lionesses.
The two players started both the first and second legs of the double-header against Uganda (0-2, 1-0) in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.
Yu Son-Gum (DPR Korea)
The best goalkeeper at the Sud Ladies Cup 2019 finally played her first matches with the North Korean senior national team in October. Firstly, she came on as a substitute in the Asian Games final against Japan (1-4) and then, more recently, she started against China (2-1) in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers.
