Czech Republic offers itself a perfect start after beating Mali
After a game with low intensity, Cezch Republic beat Mali (1-0) for the first game of Toulon Tournament 2016. Despite an average game, Hoftych's team shown some solidity against a good but inexperienced Mali. They were close to take the lead after eight minutes. On a corner kick, Sterba (CZE, 12), at the first post, deflected the ball which striked the crossbar. Mali responded with two big opportunities in a row. First, by Niane (MLI, 9) after a wonderful pass from Tianda (MLI, 10), but Vorel (CZE, 16) was vigilant. Secondly, by Samassekou (MLI, 8) who missed the net after a great foot-work from Diabaté (MLI, 11).
We had to wait until the hour of playing to see a new opportunity. And what opportunity. Lutonsky (CZE, 19) passed it to Fulnek (CZE, 9), alone in the box, who scored with a crossed shot. A goal which was the only notable point of a very quiet second period. Surely a disappointing start for Mali, who deserved better looking to its first half. Fousseini Diawara's team will have the opportunity to get a better result for her next game, against Mexico.
