Two in a row for Czech Republic over Mexico
After a game played under a big sun and a strong heat at Aubagne, Czech Republic beat Mexico and signed a second win in a row in the Tournament (1-2). Pavel Hoftych team early took the lead. In four minutes, Czech Republic hit twice. First, by Preisler, who won his face to face with Gudino (0-1, 11'). Then, thanks to a strong head shot from Pulkrab after a lovely cross from Granecny. (0-2, 15'). Granecny in a great form today and near to score another goal after getting back the ball in Mexico defense, but Gudino stopped it (17'). Overwhelmed, Mexico had to wait 39 minutes to get a chance. Cota sent a powerful shot from outside the box but missed the net.
With three substitutions after the break, Raul Gutierrez surely wanted to boost his team. One of them get the first chance of the second half. After a wonderful cross from Garcia Sancho, Carlos Fierro shot with a volley, but Vejmola blocked it thanks to a miraculous save (59'). On the other hand, he could'nt do anything two minutes later, when Silva Diaz gave a little hope to his team by scoring after a corner kick (1-2, 61'). But this was Czech Republic who were close to score the next goal. On the left side, Sykora crossed for Pulkrab's knee but off the net (73'). No consequences for Czech Republic, who is in a good place to qualify. It will be more complicated for Mexico...
